Since 2007, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has provided incentives for physicians who participate in the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) to increase their Medicare reimbursement by reporting specific quality measures. These measures, as well as the reporting mechanisms and registries, are analyzed and updated annually to ensure that the healthcare system overall is benefiting from an increasingly efficient and effective PQRS program.
