Greenway Medical Technologies Included on Maryland Health Care Commission's Select Vendor List For EHR Initiatives

Greenway's PrimeSuite to be Offered to Small- and Medium-Sized Primary Care Physician Practices through EHR Program Promotion

July 30, 2008, Carrollton, Ga. – Greenway Medical Technologies Inc., with its Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®) 2007 certified electronic health record (EHR), PrimeSuite® 2007 R2, has been included in the Maryland Health Care Commission's (MHCC) Select 2007 CCHIT Certified® EHR product list. The inclusion distinguishes Greenway® as one of 23 EHR solutions, out of 47 CCHIT Certified products for 2007, available to physicians and physician practices within the state of Maryland. PrimeSuite was selected after achieving CCHIT's 2007 certification, which includes meeting advanced technical requirements for functionality, interoperability and security, and an extensive process set forth by the MHCC that focused on the product, pricing and policies.

CCHIT is the recognized certification body (RCB) for EHRs in the U.S. whose mission is to accelerate adoption of health information technology (HIT) by creating efficient, credible and sustainable certification programs.

The MHCC is an independent state regulatory agency whose mission is to plan for health system needs, promote informed decision-making, increase accountability and improve access in a rapidly changing health care environment by providing timely and accurate information on availability, cost and quality of services to policy makers, purchasers, providers and the public.

The MHCC EHR adoption program was developed to assist physicians in the transition to EHRs across Maryland. In addition to this initiative, the MHCC, in collaboration with the Maryland State Medical Society (MedChi) and the Medical Society of the District of Columbia, MSDC, was selected as one of 12 communities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for their EHR Demonstration. The five-year project will encourage small- to medium-sized primary care physician practices to use EHRs to improve the quality of patient care.

The partners expect to promote EHR adoption through outreach, education and recruitment of primary care physician practices in the Maryland/D.C. region in an effort to revolutionize the way healthcare information is managed and to produce better health outcomes and greater patient satisfaction.

“We are honored and excited to be included on the MHCC's select vendor list,” said Justin Barnes, vice president of marketing and government affairs at Greenway Medical. “We strive to not only provide solutions that will streamline a practice, but will also enhance the quality of care that the physicians can provide their patients. Greenway has worked diligently to support these programs at the federal, regional and local level and it is exciting to see them coming to fruition.”

Greenway's PrimeSuite is a fully-integrated single-database EHR, practice management and interoperability solution that helps to streamline a practice's clinical, financial and administrative processes. PrimeSuite 2007 R2 was the first EHR to be certified by CCHIT based on 2007 Ambulatory EHR Certification requirements.
