Greenway Experiences Quick Success in the Community EHR Marketplace by Securing Contracts with 10 Community-Based Health Organizations

January 21, 2008, Carrollton, Ga. – Greenway Medical Technologies Inc. continues to expand sales and deployment of its 2007 CCHIT Certifiedsm electronic health record (EHR) solution, PrimeSuite® 2007 R2, into integrated delivery networks (IDNs), regional health information organizations (RHIOs), independent physician associations (IPAs), physician hospital organizations (PHOs) and other community-based healthcare organizations that have begun facilitating large-scale group purchases of community electronic health record solutions (C-EHRs).

To enhance the overall quality of care within their communities, hospitals and other healthcare organizations are deploying PrimeSuite and Greenway’s integrated physician’s infrastructure to facilitate a consistent care continuum whereby affiliated medical practices can safely and securely share critical patient information in a timely manner.  Greenway’s fully-integrated, single-database EHR solution provides these organizations with effective ways to streamline their clinical, financial and administrative processes as well as interoperability throughout their communities.

In July of 2007, following recently modified Stark exceptions and anti-kickback safe harbors for health information technology, Greenway® began focusing on C-EHR solutions by leveraging the leadership, experience and success gained in the ambulatory marketplace toward the advancement of community-based solutions.  Through its focus on usability, ease of adoption, interoperability and the healthcare industry’s best support service, Greenway has quickly grown its C-EHR customer-base and now services 10 community healthcare organizations across the nation.

The healthcare systems include:

  • Mercy Health Partners, Cincinatti, Ohio
  • Tanner Medical Center, Carrollton, Ga.
  • Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va.
  • Santiam Memorial Hospital, Stayton, Ore.
  • Mid Rogue IPA, Grants Pass, Ore.
  • HealthChoice, Memphis, Tenn.
  • Women’s Healthcare Network, Kansas City Metropolitan Area
  • Campbell County Memorial Hospital, Gillette, Wyo.
  • West Tennessee Health Center, Jackson, Tenn.
  • Physicians Hospital Alliance, Dayton, Ohio

“Our goal is to provide our affiliated physicians with an affordable and easy way to utilize EHR technology, managed within the trusted Mercy Health Partners’ network with proven interfaces seamlessly integrated with the RHIO in our area, HealthBridge.  The Greenway solution allows us to do just that,” said Dr. Yousuf Ahmad, senior vice president and CIO of Mercy Health Partners. “We have been impressed with PrimeSuite’s functionality, its use of a leading technological platform and the management team’s support for our strategic plans.  We believe this partnership will further allow Mercy Health Partners to better serve its affiliated physicians and patients.”

“We are very excited to partner with Greenway and provide physicians in our association with a first-class integrated EHR solution at an affordable price,” said Doug Flow, CEO of Mid Rogue IPA.  “For a small community to have access to the same technology that is available in big cities, we are creating an environment that is inviting for physicians and practices looking to work and grow in this region.”

Integrated EHR technology benefits medical organizations of all sizes, from single physician practices to large hospitals and clinics.  Since smaller practices are not always financially capable of independently purchasing an EHR solution, C-EHR initiatives enable these practices to partner with larger organizations such as hospitals, IPAs and PHOs, where they can disperse the cost of an independent implementation. This collaboration ensures that medical practices within a community, no matter what their size or location, have immediate access to a patient’s health records and can electronically share that information amongst the patient’s care team.

“Within six short months, Greenway created a distribution strategy and team that can leverage our core physician infrastructure solutions into this new market space.  Hospitals and other large healthcare organizations receive the benefit of a fully integrated EHR and interoperability solution that allows them to focus on what’s important and that’s providing quality care.  This is a key step in the development of community-based healthcare IT solutions,” said Tee Green, president of Greenway.  “Since its inception, Greenway has been involved with leading the HIT movement and we are excited about our efforts toward the advancement of community-based solutions.”
